FDEP-permitted

Every project runs the full FDEP, USACE, and Indian River County permit pack — filed, tracked, and closed by us.

Engineered to ASCE 7

Stamped structural design against the lagoon's tide, surge, and salt — not a generic catalog spec.

Self-performed

One licensed Florida marine contractor (RG291103858), one accountable crew — no subcontractor hand-offs.

01 / What you get

Boat Lifts on the Indian River Lagoon.

· 01The challenge

What an undersized or failing boat lift costs you.

An undersized lift fails within 3–5 years in brackish lagoon conditions. Cable corrosion, drive motor failure, and cradle deformation are the predictable consequences of specifying at or below wet vessel weight. The cost is not just replacement — it is an out-of-service period, a dock repair if the failed lift contacts the structure, and a repeat permit process.

· 02Our approach

How we assess and install boat lifts.

Lift specification begins with the vessel. Keith assesses beam, draft, wet weight (fuel, water, gear loaded), and the existing dock's piling spacing and bearing capacity. If the existing dock piling spacing is not compatible with the lift geometry, or if existing pilings cannot carry the dynamic load of the lift, that is established before any equipment is ordered.

· 03The lagoon

The Indian River Lagoon — what it changes about boat lifts.

Indian River Lagoon's soft muck substrate requires pilings driven to 10–12 feet minimum bearing depth for lift load support. Properties with organic muck bottom may require helical pilings rather than standard driven pilings — standard pilings can shift over time in soft substrate under dynamic lift loading. The manatee season window (November 15 – March 31) can restrict piling installation.

03 / Materials

What we specify, and why.

Lift type is driven by vessel class and water depth. Vertical (cable) lifts are specified for vessels up to 20,000 lb on docks with adequate piling spacing. Hydraulic lifts are specified for vessels requiring cradle tilt or for heavier vessels where cable systems would be undersized. Platform lifts are specified for PWC and smaller vessels. Cradle customization (catamaran beam, deep-V hull, wide-beam sportfisher) is standard practice. We do not specify the catalog default — we specify for the boat.

04 / Investment

Boat lift installation in Vero Beach runs $12,000–$55,000. A 10,000-lb capacity cable lift on an existing dock with adequate pilings costs $14,000–$22,000 installed. A 20,000-lb hydraulic lift requiring four new pilings runs $28,000–$40,000. Heavy-capacity lifts (30,000 lb or above) for sport fishing vessels run $38,000–$55,000. Primary cost variables: lift capacity, drive system, new piling requirement, and cradle customization. We provide itemized scopes.
